Samsung R451C Straight Talk Review

Monday, January 4th, 2010

“Straight Talk” is a new company that is a joint project between Tracfone, Verizon and Walmart. They have joined the huge marketing force of Walmart with the biggest network of cell towers in the US with the very low overhead customers service organization of Tracfone. This is a huge step for Verizon. I believe it will lead to major changes in their retail operations and that it will change the face of cell phone usage in the United States over the next 5 years. I have written more about this change in the basic Verizon Business model.

The New Samsung R451c has a lot of options for a prepaid phone. This is not your father’s Tracfone or Net10. This is a fully usable MP3 player, 1.3 megapixel camera, Qwerty keyboard, slider phone. This phone will accept a Mini SD card so you can transfer data, pictures, and music from your phone to your computer.

Here is a great Video Review of the Samsung R451c

Moto Razr Straight Talk Prepaid Wireless

Sunday, January 3rd, 2010

This is a video review of Straight Talk Motorola Razr Prepaid Wireless phone. Straight Talk is actually selling the Razr V3 model.

Straight Talk is a new partnership between Verizon, Tracfone and Walmart. The phones range from a basic phone for $60 with a $30 phone card to a pretty nice Smart phone that runs just over $300. I recently bought the Samsung R451c for $130 which included a $30 “All You Need” phone card.

This setup was good for one month of service, 1000 minutes, 1000 texts, and 30 mb of web browsing. That is quite a bit of browsing on the little screen of this phone.

Summary Straight Talk Review

This is a well thought out partnership between the largest retailer in the world, the largest cell phone company in the new World—(Tracfone’s parent company)– and Verizon who has the largest network of Cell phone towers in the United States.

This program hits a new low price for unlimited Nationwide coverage $45 per month plus sales tax. It also hist a new low for prepaid minutes at 3 cents a minute. The minutes do not roll over. Still the cheapest prepaid minute you could find before this program was 6.66 with a $200 purchase from Tracfone.
