How to use a Vacuum Cleaner

It is funny but many people do not understand what the best way to operate most Vacuum cleaners.

Vacuuming fast does not get the job done as well.

The brush on most vacuums pulls back.  This pulls the dirt up and allows the suck of the vacuum to pull the dirt either into the dirt bag or dust cup depending on which type of machine you have.

Move the Vac slowly backwards.
This is when most of the dirt is being picked up.  If you move the vacuum backwards quickly you will overcome the power of the brush and it will not pull the dirt out of the rug.  If you move slowly while vacuuming you will allow the machine to pull a lot more dirt up and capture it.

Clean your filters.

If you allow your filters to get dirty you will not pick up much dirt.

What happens to the dirt the vacuum does not pick up?
The dry dirt you do not pick up will drop into the carpet.  Have you ever picked up a rug that hasn’t been vacuumed much.  If it has been sitting on tile or hardwood floor you will find a lot of the fine dirt has filtered all the way through and is on the hard floor.   This is what happens with your wall to wall carpeting also.  The loose dirt will fall down and settle into the backing of the carpet.

Vacuum a lot more

The best solution is to vacuum more often.  This will keep a lot of the dirt from falling through to the carpet backing.
